It takes two….Managing Tenant Relations

Do you remember the song? The beloved Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston belting out – “It takes two….Just takes two….”

But does it really? Sometimes, no matter how well you manage the situation, one lone tenant can send things awry. Which is why having a Property Manager with conflict resolution skills is critical. Experienced Property Managers understand that it’s not personal. Communications must remain professional as we represent not only our Company but also the Owner. Referring to the Lease Contract when determining specific issues and maintaining accurate records of EVERYTHING reduces risk. And lastly, knowing what is beyond the Property Manager’s sphere is key as well. Property Managers are not attorneys, and when the time comes, the Property Manager needs to be able to recognize when they should recommend that the Owner seek legal advice.

Establishing strong process controls helps reduce the likelihood of conflicts. But sometimes, it is just the luck of the draw. It doesn’t always take two to create a conflict. But it does take one experienced Commercial Property Management team to help navigate the situation.

Let the Stafford Barrett Property Management team help you manage tenant relationships.
